The Dilemma: What to do... what to do. Within three and a half years, the ties that bind us to Upstate New York will not be as tight. Our daughter, who is 15 and currently a high school freshman, will be graduating from a local Rochester area high school and then presumably off to college. She has contemplated traveling and/or studying abroad but as many of us know, the mind of a teenager vacillates wildly, so we will wait and see. We feel it would be a great opportunity and highly beneficial for her to leave this area and discover other parts of the world.. We are also considering the possibility of further acquainting ourselves with the Hudson Valley region of New York State.

For starters, my wife and I both grew up in Rochester and have lived most of our lives here, save for short-lived stops in California - me, and England and Buffalo - my wife. Neither of us traveled too far for college, as we both remained in upstate, with me having ventured further, attending a school in Northern New York. My wife has often repeated her regret of acquiescing to her parents' . One roadblock that has given us considerable pause is the fact that our parents and siblings still reside here and will most likely remain in this area. It is primarily this reason that we would stay in New York, providing we do not make the decision to relocate.
