The Bank of England is situated in an area often referred to as the City or the Square mile, as it is just over one square mile. It is the historic centre of London and its boundaries have remained the same for hundred of years, since the Middle Ages in fact, when the area was then the full extent of London. Today the City is a dot on the map of London. However, size isn't everything, and today it is a global leader in international finance and business. It is an interesting place to explore and is home to Leadenhall Market, a beautiful arcade which contains some excellent old pubs
